As we dug through the archives, the earliest mention of a Grand Marshal was in 1953.  According to the Montgomery Messenger, Sgt. Leslie White of Waseca, who arrived home the Saturday before the Kolacky Day celebration after spending two years in a Communist prison camp in Korea was bestowed the honor of Grand Marshal.  Since then many great men and women have received this cherished honor!

MACC felt there was no one more deserving than Bob & Lisbeth Janovsky for the 2017 Grand Marshals.  Both of them have been involved with Most Holy Redeemer either as past fall festival chair or Holy Redeemeer Catholic School Officers.  They are parents of former Kolacky Days Royalty and the Miss Czech-Slovak Minnesota, former leaders of the Lucky Four 4-H Club and members of the Montgomery Area Community Club throughout the years.

Bob has been a volunteer for Kolacky Days for the last 45 years, a 25 year member of the Knights of Columbus and Past Officer, actively involved in the Most Holy Redeemer Fall Festival for over 35 years, involved with the Arts & Heritage Center from its inception in 1996, and one of the founding members of the Montgomery Historical Society.  He was also actively involved with the coordinating the restoration on the Montgomery Steam Engine.

Lisbeth is a lifelong educatior and was the2014 Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Teacher of the Year.

In closing the family is proud of the town they call home and promote their Czech heritage and the Montgomery area every chance they get.

Every spring since 1958, the MACC announces they are seeking nominations for the Kolacky Days Grand Marshal.  These individuals have played a significant role in the development and success of the Montgomery Area.  Congratulations to all our Grand Marshals.
