Activities and Events - Lynn Lambrecht - Home Baked Competition.jpg

In 1997, the Homemade Kolacky Baking Contest was added to the festival lineup to allow for amateur bakers to bring their kolackys to the heart of Minnesota Czech Country for an opportunity to gain the bragging rights for the best kolackys around.  Now people from around the state and Midwest converge on the City of Montgomery with their kitchen's best on Saturday morning.  Individuals bring in their best kolackys to see if they will be known as a Minnesota State Champion of Kolacky Baking.

Contest Rules

To enter one needs to meet the following rules:

  1. Any non-professional baker is eligible to enter.
  2. All entries must be baked.
  3. One entry form needs to be filled out for each class entered. Limit of two entries per class.
  4.  One-half dozen of the same flavor kolackys are required for each class you enter.
  5. Entries will be judged by the criteria listed below each class. It will be a blind judging event. Decision of the judges is final
  6. Entries are accepted from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at City Hall, 201 Ash Ave. SW with judging at 11:00 a.m.
