Almost everyone enjoys the experience of building something with LEGO bricks so let’s take that fun and combine it with the fun of Montgomery’s Kolacky Days.  For the 2023 theme, we want to see your best LEGO created Kolacky Days Bun Run themed display.  It could be of the start of the race or the end, it could be a dipiction of somewhere along the course, or something else.  Be creative!! Contest Rules & Guidelines

  1. Use your own LEGO, DUPLO, Mega Bloks or other LEGO compatible plastic bricks.  This a Build It At Home Event where your creation must be completely assembled when you arrive at the contest, or be in just a just a few large pieces that you can quickly put together. 

  2. Entries must be your own creation and built by yourself!  You must use the bricks in a new way in your own design. Your parents, siblings or friends can help you bring your finished creation to the contest area, but nothing more. Use of LEGO sets are discouraged.

  3. Your creation must be on a base no bigger than 24 inches by 24 inches.  The base can be wood, cardboard, a LEGO flat base, etc. and can be decorated to fit with your project.  Your completed project may be no taller than four (4) feet tall. There is no limit to how many LEGO building bricks you can use.  Use as many as you would like. 

  4. One (1) entry per creator. 

  5. Categories: 6 & Under, 7 to 12 Years Old, 13 Years & Over 

  6. Drop Off Creations in Person from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at the Montgomery Public Library, 104 Oak Ave. SE, Montgomery, MN 56069

  7. Creations will be judged starting at 7:00 PM.  Awards Ceremony will occur as soon as the judging is complete.  

  8. After judging is complete, you may take your creations home or you may leave your creation so it can be displayed over Kolacky Days and be picked up after the weekend.  Any creation not retrieved by August 1, 2023 will be considered a donation and will be given to the Montgomery Public Library Lego Club.

  9. Entry Fee:  There is no entry fee.

  10. The Winner will receive $15 Monty Bucks, 2nd Place will receive $10 Monty Bucks and 3rd Place will receive $5 Monty Bucks.  Winners will also receive the option to receive a Kolacky Days T-Shirt or an Inflatables Wristband.

Judging Criteria

Creations will be judged on the following:

  1.  Overall appearance and attractiveness

  2. Creativity and originality

  3. True to Scale

  4. Structural Stability

  5. Description by Entrant that explains their inspiration for your creation.

Registration Information

There are three (3) different age categories that a creator could enter:

  • Half Dozen and Under (6 and Under)

  • 7 to 12 Years of Age

  • Baker’s Dozen and Over (13 to 122 Years of Age)

To enter, please complete the registration form and return the form. Forms will be available at drop-off. Any creators under 18 years of age, must have a parent or guardian sign as well.
